When Your Week Doesn’t Go as Planned

I have always admired parents who work at home, especially those who have their kids with them all day. I thought I would get too bored working from home and not having much “human contact” but on the other hand, I absolutely would never get anything done with our girls around. To all the parents who actually manage to do both, I take my hat off to you. Let me tell you why…

I am a bit of a control freak, I am a planner. I have a mental image of what I want something to look like or how I’d like for it to work out and I’ll plan the steps required to get there. When things don’t go according to that plan…*insert mind explosion here*

So, as I said in my previous post, we are redoing our entire blog. Colour scheme, images, logo, and content…complete overhaul. This also means that our business idea has changed. That’s where the mind explosion comes in. I had a clear mental image of what I wanted to do and by when. But then life tells me “No lady, you’re a mom now. Your time is absolutely not your own and very little of what you do will ever go according to plan from here on out”. And so our youngest gets so terribly ill that I have to stay cuddled up to her of face ear-piercing screams if I dare try to fetch a glass of water. Needless to say, my goals of having new content written and re-launching our blog last week went out the window.

A 39.9°C fever is enough to exhaust anyone

The bright side

Thanks to cell phones, I could at least get some research done while playing nurse. Many hours of research and newsletter signups have given all the guidance needed to officially start our business.

By combining our previous work experience, knowledge and interested, we are able to build our Virtual Assistant and Writing Service. At least now that I’ve had the time to do all that research and planning, I can get down to starting our business. A detailed list of the services on offer can be found here.

Slowly but surely, I am learning an important lesson: things may not always go according to the plans we have, but finding the bright side of those challenges can make the journey so much easier. Let me tell you, I am super excited to get started on this and see where this new adventure takes us.

  1. Things don’t always go as planned, even if we’re excited to complete our goals, but don’t give up! You’re already trying to do your best, problem-solving by researching or doing what you can on your phone. I do most of my social media marketing, editing pictures and then a bit of editing on my phone when I can too on the go thanks to a ton of great apps and a smartphone. I am so glad to be a blogger now with the portability of a smartphone, I don’t know if I’d be able to do this if we were still living in an age where everything had to be done on a computer.

  2. I get it! It seems like when I finally get into a groove and start making progress, something happens and my plans change! But I can’t complain! I love doing what I’m doing, even if progress is slow!
